Jensen moved into his new

store building last v»eek where he has more room, moce light and several other advantages he was deprived of in his former location and now welcomes all visitors and patrons with a glad smile and hearty handshake.

F. L. Freeman sold his So Dakota ranch recently aud previous to that time sol 1 his residence here and moved to Oakfield but sensibly and very wisely concluded to remain here and on Monday made the purchase of the Henry Hansen residence, first door west of the Beers hotel and in 30 days will return to Brayton.

The ball game Sunday between Audubon and Brayton resulted in a victory for the locol team by a score of 9 to 1. Our team plays the Elk Horn team Suuday on the latter's ground: and by tbe way the score in the last game played with the latter team was 12 to 13 in favor of Brayton and not 12 to 12 a9 reported.

Jens Juhl sold his two story building this week to C. P. Andersen, the proprietor of the pool hall across the street, who will move his family into the upper story and fit up the lower story for a restaurant, but will still keep his pool hall runuingr where it now is in the I O O buil ding which was being nicely papered Tuesday.

Jensen-Horton Nuptials

On Wednesday, May 3 a very pretty weeding ceremony was performed in Audubon by the Rev. Freedline, pastor of the M. E. Church in that town, the contracting parties being two ot our most estimable citizeDS, Mr. Marenus Jensen and Miss Myrtle Horton. The wedding was very quiet only a few of the friends of the parties being present.

The groom is the accomodating clerk in the J. F. Jensen store and is well and favorably known in this community.

The bride has been reared in this neighborhood from childhood to mature young womanhood and is a lady of culture and refinement aud has hosts of friends in both town and country who join with us in wishing her joy and a long and happv life with him whom she has bestowed her heart and hand. The couple will reside in Brayton for the time being at least. As is the now nearly out-ofdate custom on their return here they were given the usual serenade with anything that came handy tbat would make a discord.

!HE WROTE! A LETTER I

Brooke, like many another man, dislikes writing personal letters. Like many another married man, he has delegated to his wife the task of writing family epistles. Mrs. Brooke has not been averse to performing this duty and has faithfuly discharged It.

However, when Brooke's sister sent him a picture of herself, her husband and her children, with an oft-repeated request that he write to her, Mrs. Brooke said to her husband: "Harry you really must write to Florence. In almost every letter I receive from her she expresses a wish to get a message direct from you." "I have rather neglected Flo the last few years," Brooke agreed. "I'll write her the first oportunity I get."

After several days had elasped and as many reminders had been given her husband Mrs. Brooke asked across the dinner table one evening: "Have you written to your sister today. Harry? You know you promised me this morning that you wouldn't let another day pass without getting off that letter." "The fact is, I haven't had time. Kitty," Brooke answered lamely.

"I should think you'd frame up a better excuse than that," returned his wife, severely. "You've worn that excuse threadbare." "You said you wrote her last Monday and told her all the news," Brooke said by way of making a defense. "The photograph was sent to you by your sister and at least merits acknowledging," Mrs. Brooke answered. "Besides, I can't blame Florence if she charges your negligence to my account. Naturally she supposes my wifely influence is exerted to keep you from writing her. I know that you have a sincere affection for Florence and take an interest In her and her family, but she knows this only from my letters to her." "Well, I have been negligent," conceded Brooke. "I'll write to Florence this evening."

Callers came and In the game of bridge that followed Brooke's good intentions went the way of all the others. The next morning, when reminded by his wife, he said readily: "Sure, I'll write to Florence today. By the way, Kitty, what's become of that photograph? I suppose I'm expected to comment favorably on each member of the family. I want to do the right thing while I'm at it." "You took the photograph with you to your office and said you'd keep it tn your desk, along with the children's and mine," Mrs. Brooke informed him. "Maybe I did. Well, no matter. I'll probably find it In one of the drawers."

Mrs. Brooke was hopeful, but not in the least confident, that the promised letter would be sent off that day. When her husband telephoned at o'clock that he was going to dine with an old friend and attend a theatre afterward, she asked: "Have you written to Florence?" "I was just going to dictate a letter when Thompson came in," he replied. "I'll write the first thing in the morning."

A week later Mrs. Brooke said to her husband as he was leaving for the office: "I received a letter from Florence yesterday. She wonders if the photograph reached you." "Say! I haven't written to her yet, have I?" exclaimed Brooke. "I'll do It today, sure, Kitty. You needn't look so reproachful. I give you my word."

Several days afterward Mrs. Brooke handed an open typewritten sheet to her husband across the library table, with the remark: "Here is the letter you wrote to your sister, Harry. She has returned it to me for an explanation. She says she doesn't know whether you are joking or misinformed or crazy, or all three." "What's the matter with that letter?" Brooke demanded. He took It and read aloud: "Mrs. L. A. Bleecker, Bloomfleld, N. J. My Dear Sister: I've been intending writing and thanking you for that corking picture you sent of the family.
