Mother's Day was well attended. The church was richly decorated with flowers and our League colore red and white. A row of easy chairs provided and a carriage driven by Mr. Bradley brought a number ot our aged mothers and fathers to church. Surely we were all glad to see tbem there. The evening was given to our League Anniversary Service wbicb was both inspiring and instructive, and as a proof of the spiritual life and devotion of the hour a pledge of $40 was given at tbe close of this service for the Missionary cauBe, and several new members.were welcomed into the League.

The genuine Yankee peddler passed out of existence with the creation of the "notion store," but he was a most Interesting character, astonishingly j"Bharp," and frequently amusing. One 'such appeared In a general store in a southern town on one occasion, deposited his pack on the floor, and reImarked to the merchant: I "1 guess I oouldn't drive a trade I with you, colonel?" "I reckon you calculate Just about right!" was the decided reply of the merchant, who had "had dealings" with Yankee peddlers on previous oo casions. "Get out!"
