The double-ring ceremony took place in candlelight against an altar of magnolia leaves. Given in marriage by her fath er. the bride wore a ballerina gown |of white nylon net over satin. Her shoulder length veil of illusion fell from a tier of seed pearls. She carried a white Bible showered with gardenias. Mrs. Douelas H. Layman, sister of the bridf*. of Alexandria, was matron of honor. She wore a bal lerina dress of green nylon net and carried a nosegay of red car nations. ' Albert S. Mrs. Harris is a graduate of Long wood College where she was a member of Sigma Pi Rho, Kap pa Delta Pi. and Beorc Eh Thorn. Mr. Harris is a graduate of Greensville Cgunty High School and served for four years in the United States Navy during World War II. After a southern wedding trip, the couple will make their home in Emporia. Miss Myrtle Brightwell return ed to her home in Washington. D. C.. on Tuesday oi this week after spending the Christmas holidays as the guest of her brother-in-law and sister. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Harris. Other guests in the same home for the holidays were Mrs. T. Miss Shirley Wood's Engagement Told Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Woods, of Farmville. have announced the engagement of their daughter. Shirley Lane, to Grover E. Grant, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Grant, of Keysville. No date has been set for the wedding. Miss Woods at present serves as secretary in the office of Dr. A. M DeMuth here. Mr. Grant is serving in the U. S. Navy, and is presently assigned to the USS Wrengell. with a seaman's rating. iCapt. Pettigrew Visits‘Here After Far East Tour Captain W. B. Pettigrew, who has completed a three-year tour of duty in Japan and Korea, is visiting his uncle. A. V. Wade here en route to his new station at Port Meade, Md. While in Korea. Capt. Pettigrew was attached to the 24th Infantry Division, returning to Japan in October. 1950. where he was i Din ed by h;s wife and daughters. Marianne and Margaret. Korea was not the first time C t>t. Pettigrew lias had associa tion with communism While, serving in the European Theatei in World War IT. he was taken prisoner by the Germans in late 1944 and liberated by the Reds" on their break-through to Ber lin.

Miss Dunnington was gradu ated from Chatham Hall, attend ed Sweet Briar College and was graduated from Barnard College, in New York. She made her de but in Richmond the season of 1946-47. Mr. Rosse attended the Ameri can School m Shanghai. China, and is a graduate of the Univer sity of Virginia. He served in the Navy in World War II. Miss Dunnington is the grand daughter of Mrs. W. G. Services Cheer Wounded Soldiers Patients at the U. S. Army Hospital at Camp Pickett have a bit of home brought to them each day by the ever-present Gray Ladies who so capably assist Red Cross Field Workers. Those tireless volunteers from surrounding Southside Virginia communities perform tasks which make the patient's stay in the hospital a more pleasant one. These ladies* wlio.se ifforts con tribute valuable therapy to the men's recovery, handle the dis tribution of reading material, corjuuct parties and games, and do personal services for the bed ridden men. * Their presence was especially welcome during the noliday sea son when they were Kept busy at gift-wrapping, ward decoration, and Christmas card distribution.
