Run-Away Horses Scatter Highway With 3,500 Chicks A run-nway team of horses really "fowled" things up for Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Sutton, near Man • teo. last Tuesday. Their It.500 New Hampshire Red baby chicks were comfortably loaded on the wagon when some thing frightened the horse. The animal suddenly bolted, then scampered wildly down the high way. scattering boxes of baby chicks along the road for oyer a mile. The wild flight threw the wa gon against a culvert, breaking it in half and spilling what chicks remained into the gutter, while the team continued on with half a wagon. Neighbors gathered and helped pick up chicks and assemble them at the Sutton home. A head count revealed only 400 lost The Suttons have been in the broiler chick business ;:>r a year, with two brooder houses with a combined capacity of ti.Of'O. If it hadn't been for the rain it would never have happened. Roads were impassable for the truck, so the Suttons resorted to those confounded horses
