Darlington Heights News 4-H Club Receives Certificates For Gifts To National Center,

The monthly meeting of tne ' Darlington Heights School 4-H Club was held Wednesday. Jan. j 7. Mrs. Baldwin talked to the club about the National 4-H Club Center which has been established in Chevy Chase. Md. The club re ceived a certificate for the contri butions made to this center. Mrs. Baldwin also discussed with the girls the proper ways to hang pictures and showed them how to make shoe bags. Mr. Speir talked to the club about the meaning of 4-H work. He also discussed with the boys the best ways to kill rats and mice and the proper planting of trees. Mrs. Howard Shorter is receiv ing treatment at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Richmond. W. L. Dickenson had as his guests last Wednesday evening his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dickenson, of Greensboro. N. C. Mr .and Mrs. Jim Coleman and family have returned to their home, in Danville, 111., after visit ing Mrs. Coleman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. I. Shorter. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hamilton are visiting their son and daugh ter-in-law. Major and Mrs. Foster Hamilton, in Upper New York State. The Darlington Heights Bridge Club met with Mrs. Clarence Welch Wednesday evening. Jan. 14. R. Fowler Succeeds Rev. Mr. Dunkum As Meherrin Scoutmaster Raymond Fowler is tire new scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 124 at Meherrin. Formerly assist ant scoutmaster. Mr. Fowler suc ceeds the Rev. R. E. Dunkum. who asked to be relieved due to his heavy schedule of other acti vities. Rev. Mr. Dunkum had been scoutmaster since organization of tlie troop, and retires after seeing it successfully launched into the Scout program. He will serve as assistant scoutmastei. The Meherrin troop received the announcement during its meeting last week in the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Fowler. Mr. Fowler is a member of the 'roop committee. Last week, Mr. Dunkum and Mr. Fowler took boys of the Troop to the Community Center at Crewe, to see tlie motion picture about the national Jamboree to be held tiiis summer in California.

Boodmobile Visit A Red Cross Hloodmobile will visit Charlotte county again, Wednesday, Feb. 11. Cit izens are as»ed to contact the Charlotte County Chapter of American Red Cross and make an appointment to give blood. Miss Bessie Gordon Jones, of Farmville. .\ r. and Mrs. E. T.
