Curved three-section rear window design and low, sleek trunk styling highlight the rcar-eml treatment of the new 1953 Nash Ambassa dor “Country Club” custom hardtop convertible (shown) and two and four-door sedans. The gas filler is under the hinged cover of the right taillight, out of sight and fully protected from dirt and water. Styled by Pinin Farina, renowned European custom body designer, tho 1953 Ambassador models feature original continental styling and numerous mechanical features. Major mechanical advancements include new Nash power steering and the high compression LcMans Dual Jetfirc engine, offered as optional extra-cost equipment.

Nash Motors 1933 Models Styled By Farina Displayed Today By Dealers

Nash Motors has announced its new 1953 Ambassador and States man models, featuring original continental styling and numerous mechanical advancements. High lighted by the styling of Pinin Farina. European custom body designer of Turin, Italy, the new models will be on display in dealer showrooms throughout the country today. (Jan. 16). The 1953 Statesman is powered by a new “Powerflyic” engine, and a new optional Lemans Dual Jet fire engine is of ered in the Am bassador. New Nash power steer ing is available for the first time in the Ambassador model. Many new exterior solid and two-tone colors and interior upholstery and trim selections have enhanced the beauty of all models in both series of cars. A new custom hardtop con vertible. called the Country Club, is featured in the full line of two and four-door custom and super sedans in both series. The 1953 Ambassador is power ed by a high compression six cylinder overhead valve engine developing 130 horsepower. Called the "Super Jetfire". this engine, with a compression ratio of 7 3 to 1. is designed to operate effi

cientlv on regular gasoline. The high compression engine which established the greatest post-war record for performance in the grueling LeMans 24-hour sports car race is offered as optional extra cost equipment on the Am bassador model. Doss said. Dual-Range Hydra Matic Drive and automatic overdrive are available on all 1953 Nash Am bassador and Statesman models as optional equipment. Syncro mesh transmission is standard on both cars. Nash power steering is available as optional equipment on Ambassador models. According to Nash engineers, Nash power steering takes about 75 per cent of the effort out ol steering, al lows the driver to retain the "feel" of the road at all speeds, and gives positive directional control even with hydraulic power off. The new Nash models have an advanced type of independent front-end suspension called "&ir flex Suspension," providing great er riding comfort and handling ease. All 1953 Nash models feature Nash-pioneered "Airflyte" unit ized body construction, used in modern trains and planes. Body to-frame bolts are eliminated as the integrated body and frame

are welded together to form a single unit, said by Nash engi neers to be stronger and more rigid. Integrated functional design, characteristic of Farina styling, accents the length and sleekness of the new 1953 hard cop converti ble and sedan models. The one piece, die-cast grille bears the round Nash crest. Bold wrap around ribbed bumpers are con tured to follow- the outline of the fenders. A new hood ornament, optional on all modeis, has been especially designed lor Nash by the well-known arust, George Petty, creator of the famous Petty Girl. All-around visibility is a key feature of the new- Nash models. The hood unc is lower than the "Road Guide" front fenders, affording greater vision of the road ahead. The large air intake of the famous Nash Weathci Eye condi tioned air and heating system extends the full width of the hood. New- chrome turn enhances the appearance of tnc air intake. Heater and defroster fans of the Weather Eye system are com bined in a single blo-.vcr unit. The entire Weather Eye system is

thermostatically contioiled and is operated with a single control knob. The large sliding, lighted draw er glove compartment, developed by Nash, is centrally located rt - the lower edge ol' the instrument panel. A finger grip at the lower edge eliminates any portruding handle or koob. The “pistol-grip" type hand brake is located to the right of the steering column for convenience and safety. The exclusive Nasli convertible twin beds and “Airliner ’ reclining seat are available as optional equipment on all 1953 Ambassa dor and Statesman models, as well as tinted 'Solo.x ' safety glass to reduce road gluie and heat lays.
