New Co-Ordinator ? Of Farm Bureau -Talks To Board 'V »• : President Names Two Committees In Cumberland

A dinner meeting of the board of directors and their wives and various committees of the Cum berland County Farm Bureau Federation was held at the Cum berland Restaurant. Thursday evening, Jan. 15. Charles Good man. president, introduced the speaker of the evening. Alden E. Flory. manager of the Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company. Mr. Flory is the new co-ordi nator for Cumberland and seven adjoining counties and will be working with the boards of di rectors and committees in this district for the coming year to help strengthen and broaden the work of the Bureau Mr. Flory's address was both in formative and inspiring, in that he gave a complete outline of the year's work in the form of a questionnaire, stressing the im portance of strength at the coun ty level, as the strength of the state, as well as the National Federation, depends entirely on the combined strength ol the county units. Cumberland junior Red Cross Efforts Brinsr Cheer To Camp Piekett Hospital

Cumberland County Junior Rrd Cross, under teacher sponsors, has done a very fine piece of work this year. All schools, 15 elementary and two . high schools are enrolled in the organization The amount contributed by the children during the campaign was $85. Prom this amount, in ad dition to the enrollment fees sent in. were $10 sent to the National Children’s Fund, $38 were spent for first aid kits to be kept in the iocal schools, and $9.60 was spent for supplies for Christmas favors for patients at Camp Pickett Hos pital.

Christinas Trays The leal outstanding work of the children were the very at tractive candy and nut cups that were prepared for the Christmas trays for the Camp Pickett Hos pital. Five hundred of these were made up and delivered before Christmas. It was also necessary to fill these cups, so the Junior Red Cross members solicited help to do this — $5 was contributed b.s tile WMS of Tar Wallet Church and $10 by the Home Demonstra tion Club of Cumberland.
