Recent Burkevitle Sews Burkeville Ruritan Members Attend National Convention In Richmond

Sunday afternron. the delegates made a tour of the city of Richmond and visited the State Capital and St John’s Church. Monday, they visited one of Richmond’s modern cigarette factories. Around 1200 Ruritans attended Mrs. J. S. Agnew has returned from High Point, N. C., where she spent a few davs with her daughter. Mrs. MacLean Leath who has befn ill with flu. Mr. and Mrs. W. D Taft and children left Sunday fn>- Pitts burgh, Pa., where they will make their home. Mrs. Taft and the children have been the guests of Mrs. Taft's sister. Mrs. W. B Far rar. Mrs. Melvin Scruggs called in the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Rickman were Thursday night television viewers in the Melvin Scruggs home. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Scruggs and Mrs. Harvey Iharpe visited Mr. and Mrs. WUhe Rickman at Kenbridge. Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. Rickman are on the sick list.

Visit Pat'ont Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Morgan spent Wednesday in Richmond with Wilson in Medical College Hospital and report he is doing line, but he will be there for a while yet. A. R. Hodges visited in the Mel vin Scruggs home. Saturday night. Tony Bishop is making his home with the H. M. Morgan family. He is working for Mr. Morgan. Mr. and Mrs D. R. SEWING TIPS To prevent puckering of seams when sewing with nylon, cut on bias or curve whenever possible. 1 Use a small sharp sewing machine needle, loosen machine tensions, use about 15 stitches per inch.

Paste a piece of brown gummed I aper over needle hole in throat plate of sewing machine. Use ny lon thread Double stitched seams are suggested . . . one at the regu lar seam line and another about one-fourth inch into the seam allowance. For very sheer blouses, use French seams.
