Soottsville firound Observer Post Explained To Lions John P. Dorrier. supervisor of ithe Soottsville Ground Observa tion Corps, explained to the Seottsv ille Lions Club Wednesday night the plan for the local post which will be located on Dr. R !.. King's property. Plans have been drawn and bids will ire asked for construc tion of the post immediately. He said 200 volunteers will be need ed and that a master chart will Ire on display at Bruce's Drug Store and Jcnes Store giving the schedule planned for observers. Meetings will be held in the High School auditorium, February 18 and 19 at 8 p. m. to explain the correct procedure in reporting messages. Letters are being mailed to two 3iundred people In Soottsville and surrounding vicinity telling them of the plan and asking their help The Lions Club is backing this im portant community service and Lion President R. L. King urged every member to do his part. Dor rier said "We feel confident we can operate the Scottsville post efficiently and effectively, without undue burden upon anyone, and we feel sure we can count on your loyal and patriotic support to help fulfill this important mis sion Your neighbor lias volun teered—don't let his down." Mil ton Cohen Is assistant supervisor. W. J. Smith was named chair man of a Lion’s Club committee to be selected by him to make arrangements for a Variety Show which will be presented for the benefit of the School Band fund, date of the show to be decided by committee. Pat McKenry and G. B. Cleveland were initiated and presented their Lion Club pitas by Lion Jack B. Taylo-. The February 25th meeting will be Father-Son or Daughter affair when W. J. Smith will be in charge of the program, with Hugh Flynn. Chairman of the serving committee.
