Tim Matter Set Rioht.—The Clarke Con servator denies that .hecitizens of Clarke Co., Va., intend to present Mr. T. W. Guard with a gold watch, fir his services in preventing tbe escape of Cook at Charlestown. It says:— "HouhMe«s the citizens of Clarke will ac knowledge their indebtedness to Mr. G. in a substantial manner, at no very remote peiiod; bur the citizens of Charlestown, we under stand, are entitled to the credit of intending to present him with the gold watch referred to."
