A number of peopie from this community attended the county wide Christmas Pageant at Ame lia. Christmas Eve. The family of the late Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Whittington were all together at the home of Misses Esther and Alma Whittington for a family party, Christmas day. The Christmas story was read, followed by a prayer by the Rev. h L. Crute. Then, the group joined in singing caiols before the gifts were opened. After which, each family departed to go into each other's homes and ether homes in the community.

Dec. 13. in the home of Mrs. R. F. Saunders. The rooms were festive in their deco lations of holly and evergreens, with a beautifully lighted tree. The party began with the Christ mas Story, followed by carols. “Winter Wonderland," was sung and Alice Bowlin. Then, games by Nancy and Sandia Saunders and contests were participated in until time for the exchange of gifts by the club members, which proved to be an exciting and happy time for all. Refreshments consisting of cookies, home-made candy, and punch were served. Everyone iiad a good time and left with the n a. Christmas spirit. Mr. and Mrs. Roy maunders en tertained a group cl friends for old times sake. Sam day night, Dec 27, at their home. The home was decorated with greens and candles, and a color scheme of red and green was carried out in the »cfreshments. Games and contests were enjoy ed. also group singing of Christ mas carols and old time songs. Later, the group went into the dining room, where ice cream, cake, and coffee were served. March of Dimes To Run for Month In Powhatan County The annual March of Dimes to raise funds to combat polio will be conducted in Powhatan coun ty the entire month of January. Mrs. Betty H Davies, chairman, lias announced. This decision, made on a na tional level, was forced by the record load of cases needing help, and the expense if carrying the research fight against polio. Of the more than 56.000 per sons treated for polio in 1952. ap proximately 44.000 were nssisted in whole or m part by the March oi Dimes.
