Cartersville Pastor To Lead Red Cross Fund Appeal In Cumberland

The Rev, Cecil Smith, of Car tersville. will lead the 1953 Rod Cross fund drive in Cumberland county. The drive opens March 1 and will continue through the month. Rev. Mr. Smith, who is pastor of the Cartersville field of Baptist churches, has announced that the campaign goal is a third larger than the county’s goal last year, when a successful fund appeal was made. The campaign leader has an nounced the following organiza tion: campaign vice chairman, the Rev. M. R. Mason, of Cartersville; Will Robinson. Hamilton District chairman; Frank Beer, Randolph District chairman, and Irving Flippen, Cumberland area chair man. The county goal has been in creased above that of last year duo to increased calls on the Red Cross asked by the Armed Forces and U. S. Health authorities. For the military, the Red Cross has been requested to establish recreation facilities in far-flung military outposts around the globe, where U S. servicemen must be stationed. For health measures, the Red Cross has been designated the agency to collect additional blood’ to bo processed into Gamma Globulin, a blood derivative found effective against the crippling virus of polio.
