He was retired after a quarter-century employ ment with American Locomotive Company of Richmond. He was a native of Buckingham county, born there March 9. 1884. the son of the late James B. Elam and Rosa Claiborne Elam Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mattie Guthrie Elam: two daughters. Mrs. Louise E. Smith and Mrs. J. A. Taylor, both of Richmond: a sister. Miss Maggie A. Elam, of Dillwyn, a grandchild and a great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held today iFriday) at 3 p. m, at Doyne-Burger Funeral Home.
