RESOLUTION Lions Resolution Pays High Tribute To J. W. Shepherd, Jr. The untimely death of Lion James W. Shepherd. Jr., on De cember 20, 1952. removed from our midst one of our most valu able and outstanding members, who has wrought weli in Lionism and has served this Club in many | capacities, including the office of i President. His service was always ! characterized by enthusiasm, zeal 1 and efficiency and always with i tdounding benefit to this Club

and the entire community. His lovable nature, his integrity of character, his simple every-day friendly living in our midst, most deservedly won our affection and admiration, and it could be prop erly said of him that he lived and practiced the Lions Code of Ethics.

Lion Shepherd served his coun try during World War II. and throughout the time lie lived in Farmville. he entered wholeheart edly in all phases of community life including the religious, civic and business life of Farmville. We record his passing with a sense of keen sorrow but shall long remember his kind and con siderate friendship and shall deeply and truly miss the presence of a worthy Lion and a lovable character. BE IT RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be spread on a separate page in the Minute Book of this Club: that one copy be published in the Farmville Herald and another be sent to his surviving widow, to whom wC i xteud our smeerest and deepest sympathy. Farm Machinery Repair Class The Farm Machinery Repair class held its first meeting of the school year in the vocational agri culture shop of Lutner P. Jack son High School on Tuesday. Jan. 13. at 6:30 p. m Future re pair classes will be conducted in the school shop every Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30 to 9:30 for the next 16 weeks. Farmers are asked to look about their farms and try to locate tools and machinery that are in need of repairs, then bring them to the class where Lawrence Lee, a former blacksmith of Cumber land. will gladly give advice and. if necessary, assistance in making needed repairs. Farmers are reminded not to come to the shop with the idea of leaving their tools and machin ery and returning later for them. The work will have to be done by the farmers themselves, and

they are expected to lurnish their own materials such as plow points, ax handles and plow han dles. There will be no cost for using the power and hand tools in the farm shop. Young rarmers Club The Young Farmers Club of L. P. Jackson High School met Tuesday night with President Joe Washington, presiding. Devo tions were conducted by Chaplain Walter Jenkins. Each member was given a copy of the newly adopted constitution. At Penna Farm Show John W. Booker an eleventh grade NFA boy at L. P. Jackson High School, left for Harrisburg, Fa., on Thursday where he will compete in tractor driving con tests at the Pennsylvania Farm Show. Boker earned the expense paid trip last September after winning first place in tractor driving contest at the Five Coun ty Fair This trip was made pos sible through courtesy of Brickert Oil Company in Farmville.
