SCHOOL Whenever the word school is mentioned, the most natural reaction is "‘ugh’’- School is a place in which we toil constantly, seemingly unrewarded. There those tiresome ole teachers lecture endlessly abbut unimportant things such as history, English and math. Thfcy , ’ pile millions of assignments on us poor; defenseless little teenagers. School is sort of a prison for growing people who wvll someday be voters in our great country (if1 we get through these four years. ) ; Is this not the general attitude toward school by students? I was cerainly ,a firm believer in all this. I felt I was wasting valuable years of roy Me; not that I •wanted to get out and work ort anything along|that line. I,always knew I would p to school because I wanted to *be educated. But weren’t there easier ways of being educated than-that? 1 accepted school Jbecause 1 knew that it was necessary, but I hated it with a passion.
Perhaps it is berarBrTfevf only one’more year in high school. May-, be it is because 1 realize that my carefree days are just about over. Mdst likely, it is because I am growing.not grown .by far. WhatHwer the reason may be, 1 do not *. picture school as f d,d. Oh, the. , “tiresome ole teachers” are still talking, but 1 find myself repiembering things they have said which have proved valuable. The more I listen, the less tiresome and unimportant they seem. Then I remember the really good thing® about, high school: the interesting class discussins from time to time;'the basketball games which we all enjoyed so; my many changing friendships fcpm which I learned much about people in general; the good teachers who taught me many things. Here are only p few v of the things which will make me remember' these days M, always. . High School is a necessary step in life. Definitely education is the number one interest, but thefe are others. There are so many unforgetable little thing*‘Which we do during rh's sta&e of life which nrt pointless hot necessary for growing ur>.
