The Charlotte County Red Cross chapter has asKcd prospec tive blood donors to make ap pointments now for the blood mobile visit Februaiy 11 from 11 a. m.. to 5 p. m .. at the Keys ville Community House. Prior appointments enable the chapter to arrange the schedule so that no one has to wait or feel rushed It is for the convenience of the donors as well as for the chapter determining how many \oluntcer doctors, nurses, staff and canteen workers will be needed. Vew Blood I'ses New uses are being made of the blood that is donated, it goes into the making of Gamma Globulin which is the part of human blood which contains antibodies which can be separated from the whole blood and concentrated for injec tion into patients suffering a variety of disesase. Two of the major disesases that it combats are polio and measles. The office of Defense Mobiliza tion has asked the Red Cross to assume the responsibility of pro viding Gamma Globulin. It was oue to the experience and success of the Red Cross in collecting ulood in the past that Red Cross has been asked to do this. More Donors Needed Now more than evei donors are needed. The summer months will bring epidemics of polio. Failure to donate blood may result in the paralysis of a child for life. Send a card to the Charlotte County Red Cross Chapter saying that you want to donate your blood on February 11. the chapter asks.
