Four New Award Programs Accepted For Virginia 4-H’ers Fom new 4-H aw aid programs have been accepted by Virginia for 1953. and additional awards are being included in some of the other programs already set up Dr W. E. Skelton, state 4-H agent, at VPI, says cne new pro grams are: Alumni recognition, open to adults who have previously been 4-H members. Ccmiuy winners will receive certificates; state, copper plaques: ana national, gold keys and trips to the national 4-H club congress in Chicago. Rabbit project, with three area awards of $10 each, and one state award of $35 savings bond. Garden demonstration, open to members enrolled in garden proj ects. The state winner will re ceive transportation to and from the national junioi vegetable growers association and will com pete for national awaids ranging from $35 to $150. Share the fun. open to 4-H'ers talented in the amateur enter tainment field County winners may have their expenses paid to tht state 4-1P short course at VPI where they will compete for the honor of ap pearing on the state talent show. From those participating the state 4-H department will nomi nate club members to appear on the •'share-the-fun’ breakfast at the national 4-H cluo congress. Additional awards aie available in bread, food preparation, poul try consumption, and frozen foods projects. County agents can give details.
