DESERTIONS While the Army has had about 46,000 desertions from its ranks by enlisted men since the start of the Korean war, all except 11.000 have returned to duty or have been picked up. The Air force re ported 851 deserters unreturned as of October 31; the Navy, 1.242, as of the end of December, and the Marine Corps, 697, for the same date.
