John William Baird, Jr , eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Baird, of Scottsville. has retired after 20 years duty with the U. S. Navy. He graduated from Scottsville High School in 1936. He married Miss Bernice Wagner, of Jacksonville, Flit. They have two sons, 10 and 14 years old, and they plan to make their home in Jacksonville. Howardsville The Howardsville Hawks softball team held its organizational meet ing March 12. Robert Baber was j elected president: Hugh Brown, vice-president; Marvin Ripley, sec retary: Billy Goodman, manager, and Mrs. William Goodman, score keeper. Plans are to have a benefit i entertainmaent and sell Brunswick Stew at the ball diamond March 23 to raise money for lighting the field. Robert Baber has agreed to | take his bulldozer and level off the land. Plans are to install seats. Mr. and Mrs William I- Burcher are spending a week at Buckroe Beach with Mr. and Mrs L. T. Boggs. They will also visit Mr and Mrs. Clyde Burcher at Warwick.
