In old davs, forestry, farming and business life could all be conducted with little or no education. Todav. in these fields, as well as in all modem occupations, the man with an education can advance, can be more successful, and can take advantage of material available to assist him in doing so. The farmer with a good, education is better enuioned to understand and ; use the wealth of material available to him through the County Agent and other government agencies. He can conduct his own exoeriments on his farm to increase his production, his efficiency and his income. For even the rudiments of chemistry, biology and nhvsics can assist in a better understanding of feeds, animals, soils and other matters pertaining to agriculture.
The man with an inadequate education is less able to do this. He is handicapped in his choice of occupations. He is more likelv to lose out in competition with others. He will not be as skilled in the use of the basic tools to advance in his own business or farm or in working for others.
