the glpm side. Let s look at “what’s the matter” from the humorous side. WHAT'S WRONG WITH

RAPPAHANNOCK

i’Nothing is wrong with Rappahannock, except that entirely too many of us get up in the morning to die alarm of a Connecticut clock, and button on a Ohio suspenders to a pair of Chicago pants, then put on a pair of Massachusetts shoes and wash in a Pittsburgh lavatory,' using Cincinnati soap, after which we sit down to a Grand Rapids table to ear pancakes made from Minneapolis flour and spread with Wisconsin butter and Vermont syrup. Then we eat Kansas City bacon, Virginia ham, or possible Tennessee smoked sausage, all fried on a St. Louis stove and in an Indiana skillet. As we leave we put on a hat made in Philadelphia, climb into a Detroit automobile and stop at a Standard Oil Company of New Jersey filling station to have it filled with Texas. Arkansas or Oklahoma gasolne. We send our money to Ohio for tires and then wonder why we pay $3.75 or the privilege of riding on dirt roads while the Ohio folks only pay $1 and never have to get off the pavement.

‘‘When night falls we buy some Kentucky whiskey and afterwards eat a dinner of so-called tenderloin trout, which is actually Mississippi catfish. Finally we crawl into bed under a North Carolina blanket, for some much needed sleep, only to be kept awake for theTest of the night by the baying of a Virginia hound dog—the only home product on the place. And I ask you good people to tell me just why we never have any money like other folks.

And I might add:

Why We Need Teachers.
