Chief Forest Warden Johnson, in commenting on the appointment of Mr. Greeley, advised that contrary to popular notions, forest wardens are not salaried employees of the State. They are public spirited men who have agreed to mobilize local man-power and fight fires in their community. They are paid by the State on an hourly basis only while investigating and suppressing forest tire-. Mr. Greeley will be given a commission by Governor Stanley, which will convey the authority ro hire forrt lire fighters and to help enrorce the State forest fire laws in accordance with instructions from the State Forester ami Chief Forest Warden Johnson
