water was pure and fresh, forests were mature, wildlife was plentiful, and the minerals in the earth were abundant. These resources, working together in their natural state, provide unlimited potential wealth. If any of these reesources should be deestroved. all will suffer. The balance of nature 'is then upset. If these natural resources are used wisely, each of us. and all generations to follow, will enjov them and benefit from them.
Manv people may feel wildlife is one natural resource we in this country could live without. That mav be true, but let Us. look at its importance in the early days of America. When the white man first set foot upon this country, the America Indian was living from the “fruits of the land. Wildlife provided him with fo<xl and clothing, and sheltered him from the sene weather. In 1607. the firsr permanent white colony was established on this continent. Had it not been for the wildlife available for food, that settlement would have perished the first year. Later, wildlife provided a several million dollar fur business.
