Tuberculosis
The National Tubercuto»i* Association has made grants to thirtyeight nodical investigators who arecarrying on intensive studies to increase our knowledge and control of tuberculosis. Six cents of each local Christmas Seal Sale dollar is earmarked for use in these medical resarch studies.
Six of the research projects are new ones of the total of 38 granted, . two are being carried on in Virginia, two in North Carolina, two in the District of Columbia and one in Maryland.
The studies cover all fields of the disease of tuberculosis from tissue culture to an attempt to find a vaccine. The only vaccine now in use in BGG which is not as effective as is desired in preventing tubrculesis.
At present BGG vaccine is being used extensively by the World Health Organization in /South' America and India. (
