As a senior Rod’s determination coupled with the efforts of h:s coaches began to p2y off Schoolwise he won both the Culpeper ^ county .prose and public speaking: contests and placed 2nd in, theDistrict Contest. 4-H-wise he defeated all comers in the- Northern Virginia Extension District and thereby became eligible to complete in the State 4H contest held dur. ing Short Course. Here Rod was. declared state winner and as such was awarded a. $25.00 ; government bond. i J,
