Answered by animal husbandry department: "The principal difficulty in rearing fall pigs as compared with spring pigs is that you do not have the same variety of feed during the winter months—during the summer you have plenty of green feed, which has a favorable influence on the digestive system. During the winter months I would suggest that you feed some oilmeal or meat meal to your pigs in conjunction with your corn. This will certainly help you out. Corn alone Is not a good feed for young and growing pigs. You should feed some feed with more protein. Feed say 7 parts corn to 1 part meat meal or 4 parts corn to 1 part oilmeal to young pigs and 1 feel sure that you will get good results."—W. J. Kennedy.
