The Terrors length ened the lead to six points at 29-23 shortly after the second period opened, but at this point Hampden-Sydney abandoned its zone defense and went into a man-to-man. Hampden - Sydney was never headed after the half although Western Maryland kept within striking distance. The Green Ter rors were only four points behind, at 63-59. with a minute and a 1 alf to go in the final stanza, but poor shooting at the foul stripe cost them an opportunity to close the gap. They connected on only 17 of 41 free throws.
