Childhood Days and Scenes As I m nearing the end of life’s journey And my future is shrouded in mist. I recall dear scenes from my childhood days Which far down in my mind still cxe•. ■loytul thoughts of those days still encircle My heart in a tender embrace. And the light from their shrines deeply hidden Reflects joy from the past on my face. Quite often I line! myself dreaming Of those moments too lovely to last. And each one in my heart still lingers As it throbs to the pulse of days past. Ere temptation and wickedness made me A sharer of sorrow and sin; W hen God s glory made brighter my pathway And it filled me with gladness within. I hope when my life here is ended And I'm dwelling oj^ God’s promised shore, That the joy I knew in childhood days Will remain with me forevermore. I think that my soul would long for them And that even in Heaven I'd be Lonesome at times for these childhood scenes Were they erased from my memory. L. D. Whitaker
