A man's body, clad only in socks and underwear, was found Sat urday morning at tlie edge of a field iust oir State Route 708. near Namozine in the southern part of Amelia county. Ii was discovered about 7 a m. b.v James Bates. Neero farmer who lives nearby. So far. police have been unable to identify t lie white victim. Amelia County Sheriff N, M. De Kraft described the dead man as being over m< d.um height, well built and about 40 years o>d. He said the man lias compound frac tures of the right leg and left wrifiht a broken right arm. bruises about the head and body and marks similar to scalds on tlie skin Wrapped m a brown blanket, ilie body was lying at the edge of a field, easily seen from either roadway at the intersection, the stv r ff said. Apparently no at tempt was made to hide the body. Mr. DeKraft said the man ap parently died during the night. The body was sent to Richmond, where an autopsy was performed by tiie state medical examiner, Saturday morning. There was no identification on Hit man. The body was clothed only m a pair of socks, underpants and two undershirts. The sheriff sa d several persons had viewed the body in Amelia, but they had not been able to identify it.
