Our Bird Dedicated to that lover of birds. Miss Birdie Mae Baugh Our Virginia cardinal’s lovely. Dressed in feathers \i\id led. A band of black beneath his chin, A top knot on his head. He sings for us in summer time When weather’s warm and fair; And he still stays. t<> be with us When winter’s trees are hare. From tops of trees In* sings to us Sweet songs of adoration; And for him I always have Respect and admiration. lie has a wife who suits him well. 'Cause she’s a singer too; Ami he is proud of how she sings. For bird wives seldom do. When the cardinal is courting. And whistles loud and clear. His little mate sings songs of love For her sweeheart to hear. I love this bird a lot localise His visit seldom ends; He does not leave for warmer climes Like his fair-weather friends.
