The starting point of tlu* actual hike was Jam mown. This little village in Prince Edward County was once a chartered town, but now is nothing but an overgrown wilderness. Several large oak turns mark the location, and the Scouts explored a little and found the ruins oi the old Jamestown church, a graveyard, and several reminders that this was once a thriving stopping point on the Appomattox River.
