Adequate supplies of Asian in. fluenza vaccine are not available vet but increased production has! placed plentiful supplies of polio vaccine on the shelves of | both nianufatcurer and druggists. If is a conservative estimate that SO percent of those in Virginia! who should have .been protected with the vaccine have not received it. This is true in spite of the fact that statistics show a dramatic 80 percent reduction in paraletic poliomyelitis throughout rhfcJ country during the past two years.
Last veAr 205 cases of poliomyelitis had been reported to date while this year only 96 cases have been lited. The present seasop of high incidence is over but this is th« time to prepare for prevention of 19s8. A dose now and another in a month to sax weeks willfulf for the third dose next July. The veri'es of three will build .protection in time for the next peak season which comes in August.
