Chief F're Warden Ravmond Tohnson of Rappahannock Countv announces the appointment of C. B. Palmer, Jr.Vocational Agriculture Teacher of Rapoahannoclc High School, as I/real Fire War. V*en. With the anoointment of. Mr Palmer it will increase«the fire control organization of th« countv to 1Q wardens. This will be one warden to each 2527 acres of woodlands which has to be protected from forest fires. This, as you will notice is considerable forest acreage for so few men to protect, hut with the assistance of the reguJarfftTff fcghti ng crew* which the present wardens have registered to work under them and thP cooperation of the general public in responding to requests to help fight a forest fire, the Chief Warden is of the opinion that most of the fires in the coun♦v cm) he controlled before fhev develop into large fires. \lr. Palmer will be given a commission bv Governor Sanley which will convey the authorin’ to hire fire fighters and to help enforce the State forest fire laws in accordance with instructions from the State Forester and the Chief Forest Warden.

Mr. Palmer will head up in his school one of the most important and deeply appreciated fire fighting units within the Virginia Forest Servce Organization, that is, the well known K. V. G. (Keep Virginia Green) boys.

The Woman's Missionary Societv met Tuesday November 5th with Mrs. C. G. Reid in charge of the program.

Suibect: "Three Knocks In The. Night".

Plans were discussed for the Mission Study Class on Africa which will be held here on Wednesday, November 20th.
