LETTER TO THE EDITOR
During my recent illness in die Warren Memorial Hospital, I received four pints of blood from the Rappahannock Donor Bank there without one penny cost. Each and every time any members of my family or myself receive this wondertcu or urgent service, I realize more and'fnore how important it is for the Citizens of; Rappahannock to give a very small portion of their blood to this worthy cause. As a Red Cross worker and both receiver and giver of blood, I urge each and every citizen of Rappahannock who is physically able to give willingly to the Bloodmqbile Bank every time if comes around. You may be next!
Something I would like to explain that is so often not understood by the people that have received die blood service. There is absolutely no cost for the blood but there is a small laboratory fee for the transfusion, which means transferring the blood from the blood bank to the patient. Also, sometimes there may be a little slip attached to your hospital bill if you had blood, saying, “This blood must be replaced”, which means: If this blood that has been used is, not replaced by someone, there might not be any blood left in the bank for the next patient, so please give generously die next time the Bloodmobile Unit comes to your neighborhood.
