hotef„ a restaurant, four churches, all open, two livery stables, two blacksmith shops, four stores, Woods, Bywatm. Partlows and Stufrts; that there were two pool rooms, a cooper shop and two mills? We had a dentist. Dr. Wayman^two barber drops and Dr; Brown had his office on Gay Street andjalso the printing office of G. E, Cary. Last but not least were the good old March court days which everyone looked forward to all year. The men would gather around to talk shop on the old Swan lot loaded with new farm machinery and folks would start standing in line by 11 o’ clock for one of Aunt Lucy and Uncle Bill’s home cooked meals which sold for 50 cent* and consisted of three or four different meats, always old ham, five or six vegetables and your choice of it least three kind of pies. Now in the town, wc^have three churches, two stores, one restaurant, one barber shop and one theatre ’ which will close in about two weeks for lack of business. Of course now we have two filling stations which were not-so much in demand 50 years ago; we have numennj*$iew homes, Sunday school rooms and a Parish Hall which have recently been built, and the Rappahannock News.-v; i . &yXi
