died Sept. 29, at the Fauquier Hospital.
She was born Oct. 21, 1913 in Rappahannock County, daughter of the late Thomas and Edna French Smoot.
For many years, Mrs. Foster was employed as a nurse s aide at the former District Nursing Home in Warrenton until its closing. She was an original resident ot Warrenton Manor.
Mrs. Smoot is survived by three sons, David Lee Foster, Warrenton, Lyle J. Foster, Jr., Manassas, and Charles Foster, Chesterfield Township, MI, and a daughter Ann Foster, Massachusetts.
Additional survivors include three brothers, Bernard Smoot, Mississippi. Arthur Smoot of Flint Hill, and Clabert Smoot, Washington, 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one greatgreat-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle J. Foster and three children, Bessie Sanford, Elizabeth Morris and Ronald Lee Foster.
A graveside service was held on Oct. 2 at Washington Masonic Cemetery, with Rev. C. W. Trenum officiating.
