The house, owned by Doris Cougiin. 85, also of Scrabble, was insured by the Farm Bureau. James Walker - a fire investigator for the Farm Bureau - said the fire started on the outside of the house next to the front entry and not above the electrical fixture in the front room. Walker said he did not know what caused the fire, but that it was still under investigation.
However both Sheriff Connie Smith and chief Richie Burke said that arson was not suspected. Burke insists the fire started inside and was electrical.
