The Town of Washington is considering delaying or conceiting the $A rmffion wastewater project which has been in the malting tor nearfy 20 years. On this newspaper's deadline, the Tbwn emailed the following notice of a public heanng; The Tbwn Council of the Tbwn at Washington will hold a special meeting on December 30. 2006 at tQ a.m. at Town Hail for the following purposes: t) Review of aN aspects of the status of the Town's Wastewater protect, including among other things, a) evaluation of citizens and customer comments; bl discussion of possible changes to the Sewer Ordinance; c) discussion of possible changes to the tap fees, user fees, and rate structure; d) challenges presented to the project due to the adverse economic climate; e) threatened litigation, 2) Discussion and consideration and possible action on whether the Tbwn should: a) proceed with the sewer protect; bi postpone the sewer project; d cancel the sewer project: 3) Whether to give to bidders for the Wastewater Collection System and the Sewer Treatment Rant the notice to proceed with construction or whether the Town should negotiate on terms to be determined and obtain an extension of time past the date of the special meeting in which to begin construction on the entire sewer project or whether the Town should cancel, for the time being, the project; and adoption of appropriate resolutions related thereto and the expenditure of any sums related thereto that may be necessary: A) Possible dosed session in accordance with provisions of the Virginia Freedom of information Act jp» Owe iaw and review with (he Tbwn Attorney threatened litigation.
