Open Home
The Rappahannock Garden Club, in cooperation with the Jamestown Anniversary Committee of Rappahannock County, is sponsoring Open House at three of the older homes in the county on (Xtober 11, 12, and 13, from 1 to 5 P.M. Featured in these homes will be arrangements of dried dowers and plant material. Medicinal herbs, fruits, and vegetables, cured in the Early American manner will also be displayed. Exhibits will be set up demonstrating both, old and modern methods of dring flowers, leaves, grasses, etc, grown in this "area. Thousands of blossoms of many varieties will be shown, not only in arrangements, but also in the process of being dried.
Homes which will be open are as follows: EAST HAMLET: Off Route 522. near Flint Hill. Architectural features indicate that this, brick house wras constructed prior to 1800. The lawn is graced by old shade trees and English boxwood, and there are interesting old stone and brick building in the side yard. This home has been in the Eastham family for over 100 years. The charm of the past has been preserved by its present owner, Mrs. Edwin Eastham, Sr. Medicinal herbs as well as arrangements of dried flowers and plant materials wnll be exhibited here.
