Report On Lunch Room At R. C. H. S. About fifteen years ago, In ans. wer to a very real need, and one Whijch still- exists, the local high school, along with thousands of other public schools all over the country, began its Hot Lunch Prograin. For a few years, the price, for those paying, was held to twen- • ty cents per meal. For some years past, it has been, and now is; 25 cents. These low prices were possible for the simple reason that the school lunch rooms were provided * great quantities of. governnt surplus foods, such as potacanned tomatoes and peas, I peaches, beans, canned and canned beef, canned pork, apple sauce, raisins, etc. dditton, for the first few years a government sudsidy of nine cents per meal was paid to each schocd pariicapating in the program % As morie and more schools entered the program, and congressional appropriations remained the siame, the {amount of the government subsidy! was reduced from year to year!.
