Broiler prices should remain about steady for the next few weeks. Even though broilers will be facing some competetion from the other meats, over Thanksgiving indications are that they will hold their own pricewise. There isn’t much hop* for a price strengthing, however. ■ i
The overall broiler supply for the nation, based on number of chicks started, is going to be up in Decembei; compared to last year. Increases jvill run from 4 percent above the first week in December to 11 percent the last week..
But, Virginia is low on the totem pole fn December broiler supply. with the stalest supply since 1955. Based on chick placements, the December supply will be/15 per cent less the first week of/December, 13 percent less .die setondrimd third* weeks and 14 percent off the fourth week.
In the Shenandoah Valley adea broilers were mostly 15 cents., Delmarva prices were 15% cents to 16 cents, and both Georgia and North Carolina were 15 cents a pound. . -

During the next few weeks, the price for fed lambs is more likely to aedjtie than increase. However,' based on past history, the price ' should begin to strengthen after the first of die year.
