4-H Club Picnic To
Be Held July 18
The ' 4-H members of Rappahannock County and their parents are invited to attend a picnic to be held July 18 at Woodland Park, Luray. Transportation for the trip Will be 40c; swimming 35c for all under 12 and 65c for those over 12 years of age. Each person is asked to bring his or her lunch. Soft drinks will be furnished by the County Council.
The bus will leave Washington, Va. Court House at 10 JO a.m. Transportation will be furnshed to the bus from Greeley’s Store, Chester Gap at 9:30; Forest Grove 9:30 and at 10:45 the bus will pick up 4-H’ers at the Sandwich Shop in Sperryville The bus will return home about 5 pan.
Judging Team Wins
State Honors
Last week at 4-H Shi r Course held at Blacksburg, Rappahannock Team placed first out of thirteen teams competing for state honors. Randall Updike placed first in the contest with 546 points ou‘ of a possible 600 ami Francis Updike placed second in the contest with 535 points. Two members from the winning team with the highest scores plus two next high individuals in the contest will’make up the state team which will compete in the National Contest at Chicago in November. The two next high individuals are club members from Clarke and Montgomery Counties. Without the combined effort of Randall Updike, Francis Updike Lyle ypdike and Walter B. Kilby, who made no the Rappahannock Team at the state contest, this great honor could never have been realized. Accompanying the 4-H members to Chicago this fall will be Charles R. Cooler, Fxtension . 4-iH Livestock Spec's'tist and r Walter L. f a'tihders, Jr., .\ssistant County Agent.
