The fire truck was old, so with much priming, at last it was pushed fni the street and they started off on a hazardous journey to save the property of a neighbor in distress. The good citizens of the town all turned over and went back to sleep. They knew that the news of the fire would be on the lips of every school child the next morning. Little did they realize that the old fire truck had made its last run, even though a handful of men had risked their lives that winter night.
The palatial home of our friend was in ashes at day break. Every one expressed regret to the owner the next day, however, they didn’t tell him that they had not helped in any way to avoid the tragedy.
This is not a true story but it could be. Most of the citizens know that our equipment is.outdated. They also know we are not doing anything about it.
