Premium payments and interest on commercial life insurance policies of Reservists and National Guardsmen ordered to active duty may be guaranteed by the Veterans^ Administration under the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act. This protection covers the policyholder’s active service and two years afterward. Coverage may not exceed $10,000 and may be granted only on policies which have been in force for at least 180 days before the insured enters active militai^ duty. This protection is not available on U.S. Government and National Service Life insurance.
This protection is afforded only upon application of the insured on a form which can be obtained from the serviceman's military installation or from his insurance company. The protection applies only to life policies which do not ompose special premium rates for military duties or the so-called “War Clauses” limiting benefits because of service.
This protection is by no means a gift. It is in reality a loan against the policy and must eventually be repaid by the veteran. If the veteran does not repay, but drops the policy after discharge, the VA recovers from the cash surrender of the policy. If the cash
