Hospice of the Rapidan can begin raising money next summer for a care house near Sumerduck for terminally ill people from Rappahannock and surrounding counties.
Clearing the way for the Culpeper-based organization to go ahead with the multimillion-dollar project, Fauquier’s board of supervisors has unanimously approved three special permits for a planned two-story residential-style, 20,000-squarefoot building on Royalls Mill Road.
Besides up to 10 beds for patients, the building would include offices, a kitchen, dining room and meeting spaa1 for counseling family members of clients
Bob and Betty Niles, who live near Sumerduck, will donate a 14 6-acre site for the project
Bob Niles, a re-tired lawyer, serves on the hospice board of directors.
Hospice of Rapidan officials say the plannt-d house could cost $3.5 million to $5 million
The project's worked its way through the county review process largely without a hitch
