Early Morning Fire Destroys Home-Store Of Basil Atkins A fire that broke out Tuesday morning about 3 a. in. completely destroyed the store and residence of Basil Atkins. The building was located about two miles past the Lockett House on State route619. approximately four miles north of Rice. Atkins said he was awakened by the smell of smoke. When lie. got up he discovered the house was full of smoke, and lie just had time to escape with his wife and two children before the house be came untenable. He saved nothing from the building. The building was in sured. he reported but none of the store stock carried insurance. Firemen could not determine the cause of the fire
