Bob Humphreys, junior right hander, took the sting out of the Jackets with a three-hit effort on the mound for his second pitch ing win. Lew Brandt, R-M ace, was the losing pitcher. Brandt gave up seven hits while- going the 10-inn ins distance. His record is now 2-2. Hampden-Sydney scored the tight game's first run in the fifth when Wayne McLean, freshman catcher from Richmond, walked and came home on Third Base man Tommy Davis’ hit that bounced over the head of R-M Outfielder Bunkie Keeton for a triple. Davis was in a third re placing Humphreys for mound duty. The Jackets tied the contest 1 and 1 in the eighth when they bunched two of their three hits, both singles by Marshall Hughes and Keeton, Sandwiched between an error. The teams battled through the ninth with the deadlock dangling to set the stage for the dramatic 10th inning heroics by grid co captian Gene Cooke, a long-ball specialist for Coacii Weenie Mil ler's Bengals.
