Mahoney Acquitted
On Perjury Charge
Joseph S. Mahoney was acquitted on a charge of perjury in Circuit Court yesterday with Judge John L. Ingram, of Richmond, presiding.
Attorneys J. Lynn Lucas of Luray and James W. Fletcher appeared for the defendant. With. Commonwealth Attorney Rayner V. Snead as a witness, Charles G. Stone of Warrenton was the prosecuting attorney.
The jury was out less than 15 minutes. Jurymen were Joe Hawkins, Jr., John H. Wayland, Joseph L. Nelson, Frank Brown, Chester Weaver, L. J. Kilby, J. W. Critzer, F. D. Armentrout, Jeremiah Atkins, H. G. Wayland, and Morgan Johnston.
The case grew^ out of a civil action for $51, Miller Williams against Joe Mahoney. Judgment was given Miller Williams for the $51 in May.
