The happiest season of the Christian’s year is marked by the birthday celebration for the Christ Child.
Complaints come around every year that we have commercialized Christmas; that we have made a business of a religious holiday and lost the true meaning of The Great Gift.
This year, let’s,complain in a new way. Let’s voice an opinion that we have shifted in file opposite direction too far; that we have over-emphasized the awe-inspiring life of Christ, the earthly ministry and sacrifice of the Son of God. t . „ .
The celebration is one for joy! It represents hope and looking forward to “Peace on earth.” We are greeting file birthday of our King!
It is the season when “Joy to the World” should sound like joy —and not be sung as a lugubrious chant. It’s time to abolish the singing of “The Holy City” and substitute the “Hallelujah Chorus.”
The Angel announced the theme at the time of the Birth : “Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy . . .’’ and that should be the theme for today as well as twenty centuries ago. _
