PARKE BRINKLEY DESERVES RE-APPOINTMENT This newspaper agrees wholeheartedly with C. W. Wampler of Rockingham county, chairman of the State Boar of Agriculture, and M. A. Hubbard, executive secreary of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, who have strongly urged the reappointment of Parke C. Brinkley as Commissioner of Agriculture. Mr. Wampler said he thought Mr. Brinkley has done a “wonderful job” and was on his way to “becoming one of the Outstanding Commissioners in the United States.” Mr. Hubbard has termed Mr. Brinkley’s service “outstanding.”
Like Mr. Wampler and Mr. Hubbard, we feel Mr. Brinkley has made an excellent record as Agriculture Commissioner during the four years he has served by appointment of Governor Battle.' Young and vigorous, he is 37, he has brought energy and enthusiasm.to.this im-J portant position. He has made a fine impression throughout Virginia for his competent handling of agricultural matters. Several programs installed in his^ administration—calfhood vaccination, apple packaging and promotion! cotton gin modernization, field testing of hybird com and other seeds, speedier laboratory anaylsis of commercial seeds—have had a helpful effect*on Virginias farm economy.
